Direct Support Professional (DSP)
Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing person-centered supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential and community settings. The DSP promotes independence, community integration, health, safety, self-determination, and quality of life while ensuring compliance with DDS regulations, Medicaid Waiver requirements, and Project ReDirect policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assist with information gathering for Individual Support Plans (ISPs), person-centered planning meetings, assessments, and service reviews.
2. Implement ISP goals, Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), Nursing Care Plans, and other approved support strategies.
3. Assist individuals with activities of daily living including personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and medication support as authorized.
4. Promote independence, choice, dignity, self-advocacy, and community inclusion.
5. Support individuals in community activities, employment, volunteer opportunities, recreation, and social events.
6. Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy living environment while following safety and infection control procedures.
7. Observe, document, and report changes in health, behavior, or overall well-being.
8. Complete required documentation including daily notes, progress notes, medication records, data collection, incident reports, and other required records.
9. Safeguard individual rights and ensure restrictions are not imposed without proper authorization and due process.
10. Assist individuals with managing personal funds in accordance with agency policies and documentation requirements.
11. Maintain open communication with supervisors, families, guardians, healthcare providers, and support team members.
12. Transport individuals to appointments, community activities, employment sites, and other approved destinations.
13. Respond appropriately to emergencies and crisis situations.
14. Attend required meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions.
15. Maintain all required certifications and apply training knowledge in daily practice.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Certificates, Licenses and Requirements
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Successful completion of DDS-required background checks.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain.
• TME Certification preferred or as required by program.
• Completion of all required DDS and Project ReDirect training requirements.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed. Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation and travel throughout the community.
Work Environment
Work is performed in residential homes, community settings, day programs, and office environments. May require evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Compensation: $18.70 per hour
